Much more than a simple collection, the 20 pieces that Ludovica Amati has created for the upcoming 2013-14 fall/winter season represent the second stage of her extraordinary voyage across the world in search of the origins of spirituality, oft threatened or forgotten. These pieces stand out as a compendium of signs, of emblematic and aesthetic suggestions translated into dress-code. Still living according to their ancestral customs, unadulterated by time, the Shibipo tribe inspired Ludovica with the beautiful geometric patterns, lithe, yet powerful and hypnotic, and very symbolic, of the Shibipo Icaros. These a graphic, dynamic, and mysterious representation of a magical music score: the gentle chants intoned by Shibipo healers and shamans, modulating their voices with abstract, suspended, and metaphysical sounds during a state of trance or while intent on healing. As Ludovica Amati points out, it is the women, regally clothed in superb colours and decorations, who are the almost protected, with Icaros prints in hues of grey and beige. This central theme also comes out her poetics; hugging the body they are at once dancing and unreachable, rare and smooth. The long, and overcoats are at once geometric and free, and the draped trousers are reminiscent of oriental unexpected accomplishments, subtly transparent patterns organised by juxtaposition, culminating in the ironic “boyfriend” pin stripe suit, borrowed from his closet, oversize and with a Mediterranean hint of gitane. The colours are brought together by their soft, powdery tones, a palette of beige and greige, For this 2013/2014 Shibipo Collection Ludovica Amati once again called on French actressJoana Preiss to be her testimonial.
The campaign was shot in Rome by director and photographer Nicolaj Pennestri.
The location is a caravan that Ludovica set-up and staged with objects that were of great meaning, bringing out into the world the image of a woman who is free to travel bringing along with her those special, precious things found along her path and brought alive in each place.
The caravan is a home and a base to discover and recompose onself.
Joana Preiss is all this, a woman of free spirit, soul, and action.
A dancing creature. Eternal…
